There are many different dimensions of happiness, but a person’s general level of happiness in life is actually quite simple to understand, it’s the equation of the expectations you have on the outcome of the future, minus your perception of the things that happen in your life. Basically, the difference from what we expect from ourselves and the world, and how we see ourselves and the world. Put simply, it’s about managing your expectations and controlling your perception. However, I disagree with people who say that it’s all about how we perceive our reality and that happiness comes from inside of us and is independent of the external world and our interaction with it. Sure, I believe you can reach a peaceful state and a level of happiness just by meditating or working on yourself, but for me, the magic in profound happiness lies in feeling fulfilled, feeling that my life matters.
I am 100% convinced that
1. doing things you are passionate about,
2. working towards a meaningful purpose, and
3. embracing and enjoying your everyday life together with the people you love,
is what will bring long-term fulfillment and abiding happiness, and what will make you look back at your life on your death bed and smile with no regrets. These are the three areas I will devote 100% of my time and focus on defining in the foreseeable future, and literally everything I publish or share on this page falls into one or several of these three categories.
